Bennbrooke and Penta Continue Successful Cooperation.

After cooperating on a data center project for HL Komm in Leipzig, Penta and Bennbrooke have successfully completed another project together.

Both parties participated as part of a joint bidder group in the framework of an investor competition sponsored by Deutsche Bahn for the sale of its DB Systel Datacenter in Berlin-Mahlsdorf. The concept developed by Penta and Bennbrooke for the further operation of the data center, which applies not only to the contractually fixed term but contains an option for a continuing period thereafter and which also foresees an opening for new users, convinced DB to award the project to the Penta / Bennbrooke joint venture.

Bennbrooke and Penta plan to further develop and expand the site based on client requirements. Given the currently available IT-spaces, both short-term client requests as well as aggregate, long-term and client-specific developments will all be able to be serviced from the site.

Frank Langer, Managing Director or Bennbrooke GmbH, notes “With our partner Penta, we were once again able to convince an ambitious client of our joint capabilities. Penta is a reliable and long-term strategic partner for Bennbrooke. We therefore look forward to further joint projects."

Bennbrooke is currently developing new data center projects in various areas throughout Germany. Alongside Bennbrooke’s core market in Frankfurt am Main, new sites outside of the Frankfurt region have taken on particular importance in 2017.

Bennbrooke structures datacenter project development in Leipzig, Germany

Bennbrooke, the Frankfurt-based specialist for datacenter development structured a consortium and brought it together with the principal. The consortium was successful in its competitive bid for a Datacenter-as-a-Service project in Leipzig, Germany at the beginning of 2017.

The consortium consists of the Dutch infrastructure fund Penta and the Dutch datacenter specialist ICTRoom. ICTRoom will build the modular datacenter and operate it for a single tenant. With the building permits being issued now, official groundbreaking ceremony will be held at July 25th, 2017 and the on-site construction works will start soon. Phase 1 of the DC will be handed over to the principal by end of this year.

The transaction marks the entry of Penta and ICTRoom into the German market. When all phases will be finished in 2019, the datacenter will measure 1,400 square meters white space and have a capacity of appr. 3,5 MW. It will have a PUE of 1.2 and will be powered with 100% renewable energy. With its datacenter expertise, Bennbrooke continues to support and advise the consortium during the planning and implementation phases.
